Japanese girls are usually on the passive side BUT change after marriage (like anyone else...). I don't care about the ethnicity/looks/etc., but I cannot stand dating American women anymore because of their attitude. twist to Japanese women is if they speak a foreign language and lived overseas.
I also know a couple that met at random on the train, started talking, hit it off, and are still together, two years later. If you don’t mind dating and/or ‘going steady’ with a Japanese man who is married, you shouldn’t have any problems. I wouldn’t do it (personally), but I have a number of friends who have. They are really great at first, but then they get really controlling or want to be told what to do.My ex-wife was the controlling type and my last 2 ex-girlfriends just wanted me to plan everything from wake up to sleep time. Generally, they are caring and will bend over backwards for you.I have a handful of friends here in Tokyo that are dating, engaged to, or married to people here in Japan and all of us have different “how I met my boyfriend” or “how I met my girlfriend” stories. Some of these stories have little nuggets of wisdom for if you’re trying to meet someone in Japan; some don’t.
In my year and a half in Tokyo, most of my “nanpa” attempts (when a Japanese man tries to ‘pick up’ a woman) happened in train stations.
